What we're baking today
We bake six days a week, starting at four in the morning. Most things are out by eight. The rest follows when it's ready - sausage rolls mid-morning, sandwiches at lunch, and whatever's seasonal sat on the counter beside the till.
Breads
Sourdough, seeded rye, soft white tins, granary, focaccia. Out by 8am most mornings.
Pastries
All-butter croissants, pain au chocolat, almond Danishes. Best before 11.
Cakes
Victoria sponge, coffee and walnut, lemon drizzle, brownies. Whole cakes to order.
Sandwiches
Made on our own bread. Cheese and pickle, ham hock, roasted veg. Lunchtime only.
Sausage rolls
Rough puff, proper sausage. Out at half ten. Gone by lunch most days.
Seasonal
Hot cross buns at Easter, mince pies in December, stollen the week before Christmas.
About Moores
A neighbourhood bakery, the way they used to be.
Moores has been on Alexandra Road for as long as most of Horsforth can remember. We're not a chain and we've no plans to be one. It's a small team in a small kitchen, in by four most mornings, hands in dough by half past.
We bake with proper flour, slow ferments where we can, and butter where butter belongs. The sourdough takes three days. The croissants take two. None of it is fast, and none of it should be.
What you get over the counter was made on the premises that morning. That's the whole idea.

When we're open
We open early, six mornings a week, and bake until we sell out.
Sourdough usually goes by mid-morning and the pastries don't hang about either - if there's something specific you're after, it's worth ringing ahead.
